Glenridge council approves bills list, several event permits and introduces two ordinances

The Glenridge Borough mayor and council on Monday completed routine municipal business, approving meeting minutes and multiple resolutions and introducing two ordinances for first reading.
Council voted to adopt the May 11 meeting minutes by roll call. Finance & Administration chair Councilor Lefkowitz presented resolution 94-26, the bills list showing $8,400,000 in current fund claims; the mayor noted most of that amount will be passed along to the Board of Education and Essex County. The council approved the resolution by roll-call vote.
Councilor Law moved to approve three social-affairs permits and the council passed the related resolutions: a Freeman Garden Association music and film fundraiser (resolution 95-26) scheduled for 06/12/2026, the Glenridge Community Fund’s Fitzgerald 5K Lager Run at Harrell Field on 06/14/2026, and Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey’s fundraiser “In Good Taste” at the Woman’s Club of Glenridge on 06/10/2026. Each permit was seconded and approved by roll call.
The council introduced two ordinances for first reading. Ordinance 18-37 would establish titles for non-union and other borough employees and fix 2026 maximum annual salaries and compensation for those titles; council approved its introduction and referred it to the clerk for statutory publication. Ordinance 18-38 would appropriate $300,000 from the capital improvement fund for borough infrastructure and equipment (including $250,000 earmarked for engineering and public-works vehicles); council introduced the ordinance for its first reading and referred it for publication.
Councilor Teriano reported to the council on public-works activities and turf-field inspections performed with the borough’s turf consultant, and he outlined routine maintenance work planned for parks and borough properties. Councilors praised the DPW for Memorial Day and Arts & Eco Fair preparations; the borough administrator highlighted pool deck repairs and announced the pool is open on weekends until school breaks.
No substantive public comments were received during the meeting’s public-comment periods. Councilor Law moved to adjourn and the council voted to adjourn the meeting.
Votes recorded by roll call at the meeting covered adoption of minutes, passage of the bills list resolution and approvals of the three social-affairs permits; no final ordinance adoptions occurred at this session (both ordinances were introduced only as first readings).
