The Salem Lakes Economic Development Committee heard an update that Twin Lakes has voted to join a proposed regional road consortium and that the committee is preparing to finalize an intergovernmental agreement (IGA).
"Since then, they are. They voted to move forward with it," said the committee member providing the update, noting that much of the IGA work is now in the village council's hands. Committee members said the consortium effort is on a tight timeline tied to an innovation grant application.
Committee members reported the village's shared accounting firm is helping Paddock assemble the financial figures the consortium will need. The EDC set aside March 24 for a possible follow-up meeting to keep the consortium work on schedule.
Members said communities that did not spend heavily in 2025 have been reluctant to join, and that organizers hope the innovation grant portion will help attract additional participants and create economies of scale to reduce costs.
No formal actions or votes on the IGA were recorded during the discussion; members asked staff to continue coordination and to brief the council and participating municipalities as the IGA draft is prepared.
