Closed-session report and student discipline: The board reported out a closed-session vote to approve a stipulated expulsion agreement for case 122526. The motion to approve the stipulated expulsion passed with one abstention (final tally recorded as 4-0-1). Item 2.2 (a settlement approval discussed in closed session) was also reported as approved 4-0-1; item 2.3 required no action.
Labor settlement certification: Staff presented a disclosure and certification for a tentative agreement with the CSCA group (a 3.9% total package) and recommended board certification of the district's ability to fund the agreement. Trustees certified and adopted the tentative agreement; staff said additional side letters with other bargaining groups will be brought to the June 9 meeting.
Curriculum adoption: After a 30-day public display period with no public comment, the board adopted a new health textbook and a new AP U.S. history textbook recommended by the curriculum committee. Trustees praised the collaborative review process; the motion to adopt carried 5-0.
Staff recognition: The board also heard a staff report and remarks from Brad, who is retiring; trustees thanked him and recognized his contributions, including raising funds for AVID scholarships.
