The North Pike School District board voted on several procurement and consent items, rejecting a lone propane bid and authorizing re-advertising while awarding a diesel and gasoline contract and approving other routine business.
Superintendent Doctor Smith recommended the board reject the single propane bid and re-advertise, saying the district received only one response and "by law, would must reject that and bring it back to you in 30 days." The board approved the recommendation.
Doctor Smith also recommended awarding the diesel and gasoline fuel contract to Buffalo Services at a fixed rate of 0.115 for the contract period beginning 07/01/2026 and ending 06/30/2027. The board moved and approved the recommendation. "The superintendent recommends approval to award the diesel gas fuel bid to Buffalo Services at a fixed rate of 0.115," Doctor Smith said during the presentation.
On facilities procurement, the superintendent told the board a verbal estimate for work on the football-field parking lot came in at about $140,000, which would trigger a formal competitive process. The board voted to authorize the superintendent to solicit requests for proposals for the parking-lot work.
The board also voted to accept donations from Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center: $15,000 for the softball program and $15,000 for baseball. Doctor Smith thanked the donor during the meeting, noting the gifts were unsolicited and welcomed.
