Principals and student representatives report on Menominee, Franklin and school activities

Principals and student representatives briefed the Oshkosh Area School District board on school openings, partnerships and student activities at the Sept. 25 meeting.
Menominee Elementary’s update described new literacy interventions, small‑group instruction, staff team‑building, partnerships with Catalpa Health for on‑site mental‑health services and a UW–Oshkosh counseling partnership providing weekly SEL lessons. The principal noted positive community feedback after the school’s public open house and dedication.
Franklin Elementary Principal Kat Noble reported I‑Ready results that show 62% of students on track for end‑of‑year proficiency in reading and math, with 88% of first‑grade students on track in literacy and 65% of second graders on track. Noble said the school is focusing on consistent language and expectations across classrooms to support those gains.
Student representatives Faith Lohr (Oshkosh North) and Marjorie “Jory” Moberauer (West High) summarized student activities, travel trips, fundraisers and athletics. Faith noted staff welcome events and new staff hires; Jory reported recent international trips, a Sept. 20 blood drive that collected about 47 units of blood, and upcoming homecoming activities (Oct. 7–12).
The superintendent and principals highlighted a range of community partnerships, including Big Brothers Big Sisters and UW‑Oshkosh counseling interns, intended to broaden access to services and enrich student supports.
The board thanked the principals and students for their reports.
