Uniontown — During public comment on May 11, a resident identified as Sharon asked the council to address what she described as ongoing noise and conduct problems from nearby pickleball courts.
Sharon said the repetitive, loud sound of pickleball play has disrupted peace and evening activities at her home, pointed to a reduction from an initially proposed nine courts to seven (and later six courts she said face into the sun), and alleged instances of public urination and defecation near neighbors’ yards. She cited state public-nuisance code during her remarks and said the issue has affected her sense of safety in what she described as her home as a survivor of violence.
After the comment, the mayor said he had ordered a portable sanitary unit for Rainier Trails Park to reduce exposure and potential incidents and clarified that the action came from his office and not parks staff. Council did not take additional action during the meeting; the public-comment record will be included in the minutes.
