She also announced the Clay County Fair will be Aug. 12–15 this year—an extra day aimed at easing scheduling conflicts between events.
Laurie listed upcoming trainings and recruitment efforts: a babysitting class is scheduled for June 25 with specialists from Sioux Falls and Watertown; a first‑aid and safety session and follow‑up job‑fair planning tied to a ‘beyond ready’ workforce‑readiness curriculum are planned for 2027. She asked commissioners if they had questions after the report; several commissioners thanked her for the update.
