Council OKs temporary VFW lease amendment to house senior-center activities during renovation

Uniontown — On May 11 the City Council approved Resolution 18-78 to amend the lease with VFW Post 1949, allowing temporary exclusive occupancy for senior-center programming during renovation.
Parks Director Alina Hibbs told council that the amendment provides the city with exclusive use of the VFW hall June 1 through Sept. 30, 2026, except for two preexisting rentals; the city will compensate the post $6,800, which Hibbs said will be absorbed into the senior-center project budget. Hibbs added the city will undertake small accessibility improvements at the VFW hall and that those costs are included in the project budget.
Council moved and approved the resolution by voice vote. Parks staff and the city will proceed with temporary relocation logistics for senior programming and with the planned accessibility upgrades.
