Santaquin council hires community development and community services directors

The Santaquin City Council on March 17 selected Morgan Brin to be the city’s community development director and approved his employment agreement, and it selected Cammy Ellsworth as community services director with conditions.

Morgan Brin (introduced by staff) described his previous work as community development director in Vineyard and emphasized economic-development and home-occupation support. Council moved to select Brin and then to approve the employment agreement (resolution/ordinance references in the packet); roll call votes were taken and the motions passed. Brin told the council his first day is set for March 31.

Cammy Ellsworth, introduced by staff via Zoom, described about 18 years of parks-and-recreation and community-services experience in multiple municipalities. Council voted to select Ellsworth and later approved a conditional motion requiring a site visit, successful background check, and a start date about 30 days out. Staff noted the conditional motion and that the contract and background-check verification would be completed before final onboarding.

Both hires followed a competitive interview process; staff said there were many qualified candidates and recommended these finalists after multiple interview rounds. Councilmembers praised the candidates’ experience and said the appointments should help move several projects forward.

Next steps: Brin will begin on March 31; Ellsworth is expected to visit the city within the coming week and will begin after completing the site visit and background screening.
