Cherokee County tells Woodstock it does not oppose annexation of Faith Community Church parcels

Planner Brianna presented an annexation request from the City of Woodstock for two properties at 2291 and 295 Rope Mill Road owned by Faith Community Church Inc. The properties total about 5.87 acres and the city proposes changing zoning from R‑40 and Neighborhood Commercial to OSI (office/institutional). Brianna said driveways will be permitted by the city and fire/emergency permits will be approved by the city; the county received a site plan but no timeline for development.
Commissioner Ragsdale moved that Cherokee County respond to Woodstock saying it does not oppose the annexation and that staff comments be forwarded with that reply; Commissioner Carter seconded. The board approved the motion unanimously. Planning staff noted the annexation would reduce a preexisting unincorporated island and is within the county growth boundary.
The city's planning commission will hold a public hearing May 7 and the Woodstock city council is scheduled to decide May 18; the county's reply will include staff comments.
