Mayor Kilway told the Tallmadge City Council on March 9 that an ordinance must be adopted before April 1 to allow the city to enter an electric aggregation contract that will remain in effect for May usage (billing in June). To meet the timeline, Kilway asked council to schedule a short special meeting to adopt the required ordinance.
Councilmember Dave Klein moved to hold a special meeting focused on electric aggregation; Lindsay Holm seconded the motion. Council tentatively set a March 30 special meeting at 12:00 p.m.; the date was approved by roll call at the meeting. Council discussed alternate dates and times to accommodate members’ schedules but agreed the March 30 noon meeting would allow the city to act before April 1.
Mayor Kilway said rates are expected to fall in the coming weeks and that staff and the city’s broker are working to secure competitive terms. She asked council to check calendars and noted that the meeting could be a short, 15–20 minute session during the day if necessary.
The motion to set a tentative special meeting passed with no recorded opposition. Staff said they will publish official meeting notice and follow required public‑meeting procedures before the ordinance consideration on March 30.
