The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners welcomed the sheriff and his team on April 21 to recognize deputies honored for investigations, lifesaving actions and sustained service.
Sheriff Frank Reynolds opened remarks thanking the board and families. "Thank you, Board of Commissioners, for the opportunity to come up here and celebrate our employees on their achievements," the sheriff said, noting the importance of family and community support.
The Sheriff's Office presented a series of awards naming recipients including Sergeant Jack Fullenweider and Deputy Joshua Belden (commendation for an attempted bank-deposit burglary investigation), Detective Terrence Stallings (commendation for lifesaving aid), Deputy Justin Botts (Meritorious Service for recruitment efforts), Joseph Papadix (accreditation manager), Deputy Kyle Nowak and Deputy Andres Gavina (lifesaving response), Corporal Fadio Artiguez, Deputy John Wicker and Deputy William Shaw (lifesaving), and Lieutenant Colonel William Smith (Legion of Merit for long service and leadership). State-level proclamations from members of the Georgia House and Senate were presented or read on behalf of legislators to recognize Deputies Nicholas Glass and Anthony Pacifico for their actions during an October 25 incident.
Commissioners and the sheriff thanked family members and agency staff and allowed time for photos and fellowship after the ceremony. The awards concluded and the meeting returned to regular agenda business.
