Washington County School Board honors Scholastic Bowl, SkillsUSA and poetry winners

The Washington County School Board used part of its meeting to recognize student achievement across academic, technical and arts programs. Board members presented certificates and took photos with the Patrick Henry High School Scholastic Bowl state champions and several SkillsUSA medalists in welding, collision repair, masonry and other career-technical contests.
Multiple board members praised students, coaches and teachers for their work and noted career-technical education (CTE) provides pathways to immediate employment and internships. The board also presented the Larry Johnson SMAC award to athletic trainer Brad Bussey for his long service to student-athlete safety and named winners in countywide poetry contests, with certificates for elementary and high-school winners.
Board members asked families to check the division’s Facebook page for photos of the recognitions and encouraged continued community support for CTE and arts programs. The student representative also reported robotics and other end-of-year activities, and board members congratulated students on upcoming awards ceremonies and graduation dates.
