Gateway School District’s board on Jan. 26 approved a personnel slate that included new hires, multiple resignations, retirements, leaves of absence and supplemental assignments.
The personnel administrator presented Item 6, which listed recommended actions: recognition of two co-head coaches splitting supplemental pay; four resignations; a rescission of employment acceptance by Abhisi Ako; five retirements (including Simo Dragovich, retiring in December 2026); six leaves qualifying under the Family and Medical Leave Act; three unpaid leave requests; two recommended hires for food service and a secretary; and 18 supplemental spring-sports items. The administrator also recommended discretionary stipends reimbursable from the musical budget for two positions that are not district-approved supplementals.
Board members moved and seconded the personnel slate. On roll call, the board approved the items with a recorded exception noted for items 6.8 and 6.9 (the transcript records that votes excluded those two items from a unanimous 'aye').
The board did not provide detailed contract terms in the meeting record for individual hires; administrators said additional paperwork and effective dates would be reflected in personnel records. Board members asked no substantive questions during the roll call and accepted administration’s recommendations.
