Council reappoints city attorney, assigns committee seats, approves $1.05M in claims; holds closed session on administrator search

Council also approved appointments to its standing committees under Ordinance Section 2.21 and to multiple boards, including the Board of Public Works, Library Board, Park Board, Transit Board, Redevelopment Authority, Chippewa‑Eau Claire Metropolitan Planning Organization, Main Street Board and Senior Center Board (motion by Kiefer/Hull; roll call unanimous).
The council approved claims as recommended by the Claims Committee: City General Claims $884,388.95; Authorized/Handwritten Claims $90,486.45; Department of Public Utilities $79,871.19; total presented $1,054,746.59 (motion by Kiefer/Nadreau; roll call ayes recorded). The minutes list roll‑call ayes but do not show nay votes or abstentions.
Separately, the council voted to enter closed session at 6:46 p.m. under Wis. Stats. §19.85(1)(c) to review and preliminarily consider applicants for the City Administrator position; participants in the closed session included the Mayor, council members, the City Attorney and Shawn Murphy of Public Administration Associates. The council returned to open session at 8:03 p.m. and adjourned at 8:05 p.m. The minutes do not record any formal personnel action taken while in closed session.
