New Berlin board recognizes Educators Rising seniors and the district’s dual-enrollment teacher pathway

The Board of Education of the School District of New Berlin on Tuesday recognized seniors who have completed the Educators Rising dual‑enrollment pathway and who plan to pursue teaching.
"I'm Jessica Santiago, instructor of Curran's 300 intro to teaching dual enrollment course and advisor of the Educators Rising Club for the school district of New Berlin," Santiago told the board, and described the pathway’s requirements: dual‑enrollment coursework, field‑experience hours, a 3.0 GPA or higher, and participation in state and national club activities. She introduced a slate of seniors who have completed the pathway and will pursue postsecondary degrees in education, including Ashley Babcock, Lucas Bushman and Emma Gourkey.
Santiago said many students in the program meet the district’s honors and career‑pathway criteria and that several competed at state and national conferences. "I'm honored to work with such dedicated future teachers," she said.
The recognition highlighted cooperating teachers and community partners who support the program. Board members and the superintendent thanked students, advisors and cooperating teachers for their work and encouraged parents to steer interested students toward the district’s teacher pathway.
The presentation did not include any board action; it concluded before the meeting moved on to administrative reports and routine business.
