Chippewa Falls council approves summer street and event permits, denies full Willow Street closure

Director of Public Works and Utility Manager Brandon Cesafsky presented an updated event map and advised the council he was not in favor of a full closure of Willow Street; he also reported the Board of Public Works denied a request to provide barricades for the event. Despite that, the council approved Collective Charm’s Spring Fling Flea to be held May 30, 2026, using City Lots 2 and 4 (motion by Rob Kiefer, seconded by Jody Marr). All present voted aye.
The council then voted to consider and approve items (b)–(g) as a single package (motion by John Monarski, seconded by Paul Nadreau). Approved events and permits included: the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley’s Ferris Wheel 5K (July 12) and Pure Water Days races (Aug. 8); Chippewa Falls Main Street’s Cruise‑In car shows scheduled May 16, June 20, July 18, Aug. 8 and Aug. 22 along the 100–800 blocks of N. Bridge Street; two Temporary Class B beer licenses for the Northern Wisconsin State Fair Association (one for a private event on May 13 at the fairgrounds and one for the CFPD Alumni Cornhole Fundraiser on Oct. 17); and a sidewalk‑use permit allowing decorative bikes with flowers in the downtown sidewalks. The bundled motion passed unanimously.
Council did not specify alternate barricade arrangements in the minutes; event organizers will proceed under the permit conditions approved by the council. The approved permits list specific dates and locations for each event.
