Bardstown council approves $649,220 street-resurfacing bid, change order and event road closure

At its Aug. 13 meeting the Bardstown City Council unanimously approved a $649,220 street-resurfacing bid, a $11,594 change order for the Liberty Business Park pump station, a sewer-service request for Mago Earth, and a road closure for the Oct. 19 Craft Beer Festival; two ordinances were introduced for second readings on Aug. 15.
The City of Bardstown City Council met Aug. 13, 2024, and unanimously approved a package of routine infrastructure and event items.
Councilman Roland E. Williams moved to accept a bid from Mago Construction for street resurfacing priced at $109.00 per ton with a total bid of $649,220.00; Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Councilman Hibbs also moved to approve Change Order No. 1 for the Liberty Business Park pump station and force main replacement project in the amount of $11,594.00; Councilman Williams seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
Councilman Bill Sheckles moved to approve the sewer service request submitted for Mago Earth at 601 Parkway Drive; Councilwoman Betty Hart seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Councilman David Dones moved to approve the road closure request and city sanctioning for the 11th annual Bardstown Craft Beer Festival on Oct. 19, 2024; Councilwoman Hart seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
Councilman David Dones introduced two ordinances for future readings: Ordinance B2024-11 to establish a building and electrical inspection program and Ordinance B2024-12 regarding property tax rates. City Attorney Audrey Haydon-Blackmon read the measures in summary, and second readings were scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024. The council approved cemetery deeds for Cairicia Montgomery, Jennifer Shrewsbury, and Martha and Gregory Mooneyhan by unanimous consent and approved the July 23, 2024 meeting minutes by unanimous consent.
Mayor J. Richard Heaton provided brief project updates, including parts ordered for Mayor's Park fountain repair, EV-charging-station repairs at the farmers market, the start of the East Zone Waterline Project on East Stephen Foster Avenue, and work near Highway 62 on an interconnect project. Councilwoman Hart and Councilman Sheckles made several community announcements about upcoming local events.
The council adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
