Staff described a recent equipment outage: unit 309 has been down while mechanics diagnose a hydraulic fault. A staff member said the hydraulic pump part under consideration would cost about $67,000 and recommended diagnosing the exact failing component rather than replacing multiple parts preemptively. The staff member also reviewed multiple vendor quotes for road machinery (brands discussed included Eagle and MowerMax), noted trade-offs such as wiring and air-conditioning serviceability, and recommended examining warranty terms (for example, 7,500-hour warranties on leased machines) before deciding whether to buy or lease.
Cody, a county staff member, updated commissioners on the county’s P25 radio system: installation in patrol cars and fire units is complete, portable radios are programmed, antennas are scheduled for installation next week, and testing is planned for late March and early April with a target go-live date of April 8. Cody said the P25 system will enable communications with surrounding counties and the state patrol on compatible channels.
