Miller County commissioners approve new county camera server and camera system vendor

Miller County commissioners voted to enter into an agreement with Viper Technologies to replace the county’s network video-recording (NVR) server and associated camera system after staff said the recommended system will support up to 128 channels but will be licensed initially for 70 cameras.
Cody, a county staff member, said the county solicited three bids for the same system and recommended Viper Technologies because the vendor is local, will deliver and install the server and will assist with the transition. “My recommendation would be the Viper Technologies. I’ve used them for years. They’ll actually bring the server down and install it for us,” Cody said.
Cody told the commissioners the current licensing plan would cover 70 cameras at roll-out; additional licenses would be added if the county later expanded the system, at an estimated incremental cost of about $100 per camera for the life of the server. He said the county did not see a need to buy all 128 channels up front.
Chair moved to enter into the agreement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. No roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript. The contract award and vendor selection conclude the procurement discussion; staff will coordinate installation and licensing with the vendor and return with updates if the county decides to expand beyond 70 cameras.
The approval follows routine procurement review; commissioners had earlier approved the meeting agenda, minutes and financial report before considering this item.
