Newton County OKs $1.5 million contract amendment for Factory Shoals Park

The Newton County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 6 approved Construction Management Design-Build Contract Amendment #1 with Sunbelt Builders, Inc. for the Factory Shoals Park project (RFP 25-22B).
The amendment adds $1,500,000 to the project; the county recorded a not-to-exceed contract amount of $1,503,500. The funding source for the amendment is the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST); staff indicated the project is budgeted and includes required matching funds.
Commissioner LeAnne Long moved to approve the contract amendment and Commissioner Stan Edwards seconded. The motion passed 5-0. The board recorded the contract amendment as presented and authorized staff to proceed under the amended agreement.
