Fenton board reviews BAN bid for trucks, phone contract options, and schedules passport fair

At the May 6 meeting the Town of Fenton board reviewed a 4.5% interest proposal from Tioga State Bank for bond anticipation notes (BANs) to finance highway trucks and said it was awaiting proposals from other banks.
Supervisor David Gunster told the board representatives from Spectrum Voice contacted the town about replacing the current phone system; Armstrong Telecom prepared an alternative contract. Gunster said the proposed three-year phone contract would add lines and upgraded phones for Highway, Water and Court, with a modest per-line increase.
The board also heard that the town’s website must comply with ADA accessibility standards, a deadline that was initially April 2027 but has been moved to April 2028; staff noted Word documents on the site must be converted to PDFs to meet requirements.
The town is hosting a Passport Fair on May 11 from 5 to 7 p.m.; Gunster noted fairs book quickly and suggested alternate passport options at the Post Office or the Broome County Clerk’s office. The board approved meeting minutes from the March 25 work session and the April 1 meeting (motion by Thomas Moss, second by Thomas Cook, roll-call unanimous). At 8:30 p.m. Councilman Thomas Cook moved to adjourn; the board voted five ayes to adjourn.
