Resident urges special permit after being turned away at recycling center

Paul Laurencot of 247 Glenwood Drive told the council during public comment that borough staff turned him away from the recycling center because his trailer uses a dumping mechanism. Laurencot said he uses the facility about four times a year and would be willing to request permission in advance; he suggested a special permit program for residents with similar trailers.
Mayor Randy George said he had received a similar email and described Laurencot’s point as “excellent.” The mayor proposed adding a provision to the draft ordinance that would allow residents with dumping mechanisms to apply for a special permit through the municipal clerk’s office.
No ordinance change was adopted at the meeting; the council discussed incorporating permit language into the pending ordinance regulating dumping at the DPW facility.
