The Barnegat Township Committee introduced three ordinances on Feb. 3 that will return for public hearings on March 3, 2026.
Ordinance 2026-3 was introduced on first reading to exceed municipal budget appropriation limits and to establish a cap bank under NJSA 40A:4-45.14. The introduction passed on a unanimous vote (mover: Joseph Marte; second: Al Cirulli). A public hearing and final consideration was scheduled for March 3, 2026.
Ordinance 2026-4 was introduced to authorize the sale of Block 223, Lot 2 (69 Bayview Blvd.) pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:12-1 et seq. The introduction passed on first reading; a March 3 public hearing was set for final passage consideration.
Ordinance 2026-5 was introduced to repeal and replace Township Code Chapters 55-350 through 55-539, updating local “Affordable Housing Requirements.” The minutes record a resident question from Ray Lezcheck about whether the change would expand or reduce affordable housing; Christ Dasti responded that the ordinance is an update required by the state, will not remove affordable housing, and must be completed by March 15, 2026. The Committee introduced the ordinance by unanimous vote and scheduled the required public hearing on March 3.
All three introductions were approved on unanimous roll calls and will return for a public hearing and final action at the next meeting.
