Public Works Director Jeremy Gumke delivered the Public Works Annual Report on March 10, outlining the department’s divisions and recent work on streets, parks, utilities and vehicle maintenance.
The presentation reviewed street maintenance operations, use of salt and salt brine (2020–2025), parks maintenance including ice-skating support, the utilities division’s record of watermain breaks and service leaks (2017–2024), and a vehicle maintenance overview. Gumke also discussed coordination with engineering and the department’s 2025 sustainability and electric vehicle analysis.
Councilmembers commended the department’s performance: Councilmember Thomas Randle called the department’s work "great," and Councilmember Lona Doolan praised street sweeping and snow plowing. Doolan asked about ash tree remediation; Gumke said the city completed substantial work in the first year using grant funding.
