The board appointed Ian Heck as an alternate member of the Forks Township Planning Commission with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2029. Mr. Heck was in the audience and accepted the appointment; he identified himself and said he had been a planning commission member for seven years and had served as chairman in the past.
From the audience Mr. Heck said he was upset about how the board communicated the matter and the process of selecting candidates: "I will do my job but I will assure you I will not forget how this was handled by this group," he said. The board agreed to interview other interested candidates on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
The exchange occurred during consideration of planning commission vacancies; the board also discussed whether to advertise for candidates or reassign terms. The scheduled interviews provide a formal opportunity for the board to consider additional residents for appointment.
