The Pleasant Hill City Council on March 10 approved the second reading of Ordinance #967, rezoning property generally located in the 7000 block of SE 6th Avenue from A‑1 (Agricultural/Open Space) to R‑2 (Low Density Residential).
Senior Planner Brain Dunkelberger reviewed the city's code authority to amend zoning designations and said the request followed standard referral to the Planning & Zoning Commission, which recommended approval at its Feb. 2, 2026 meeting. Dunkelberger noted the city’s Pleasant Hill 2050 comprehensive plan designates the site as 'Low Density Residential,' defined in the plan as single-family detached dwellings at densities between one and five dwelling units per acre. The property is currently in row-crop production and is adjacent to acreage-style single-family parcels and platted residential land in the Peter’s Ridge subdivision.
The ordinance’s second reading was approved by roll-call vote (Murray/Birch) with Len Murray, Andrew Birch, Konnor Hodges and Mark Konrad voting aye and none opposed. No new comments were recorded since the ordinance’s first reading on Feb. 24.
The decision authorizes the zoning change; the minutes do not record immediate development proposals or a building timeline.
