Barry County commissioners approve $3.94 million in prepaid invoices, claims and tax-rate request

Commissioners also approved $232.00 in commissioner mileage reimbursements in a unanimous vote. Equalization Director Meshia Rose presented the 2026 L-7029 Tax Rate Request; Commissioner David Hatfield moved and Commissioner Bob Teunessen seconded the motion to approve the L-7029 for levy and execution by the chair and clerk. The motion passed 8–0.
The meeting record does not include a line-item breakdown of the large prepaid invoice total or the tax-rate levy distribution. The board postponed a separate 10-year contract renewal with Professional Code Inspections (PCI) for additional consideration at the May 26 meeting.
