Franklin County board approves FY27 budget package and textbook adoption

The Franklin County School Board voted to pass its FY27 general fund budget and accompanying federal projects and school nutrition budgets and approved a textbook adoption during Monday’s meeting.

Later, the board debated the district’s FY27 package — which the superintendent described as encompassing the FY27 federal projects fund, the school nutrition budget and the proposed general school budget with salary schedules and supplements — and voted to pass the FY27 general fund budget.
Board discussion noted the district’s budgeting assumption about county property-tax growth and the contingency if the county commission does not grant that growth. When asked directly whether the board would approve the budget “with or without the growth,” a board member replied that the board would approve the budget either way so the district would not need to reconvene for a special meeting. The superintendent said the county growth is commonly requested but not guaranteed.
