Rustic Roads Commission launches public input portal; minutes approved 7-0

The Rustic Roads Commission approved minutes from its Jan. 14, 2026 meeting after an amendment specifying that the Maintenance Subcommittee will lead the road surface project. Commissioner Darius Mark moved the amendment and motion; Pamela Burke seconded. The vote was recorded as 7-0-0-0 in favor of approval.
Beau Lockard, Historic Preservation Planner, said Frederick County has launched a new Public Input platform and selected the Rustic Roads Commission as one of the first groups to use it. Lockard said the portal accepts text, voicemail, email and web-survey comments, requires a name and email to submit, and allows users to subscribe for project alerts; the platform is already live with current nominations and project signage will display the portal URL and contact information.
Subcommittee reports were brief: the Nomination and Survey and Project Review subcommittees reported no update; the Education, Promotion and Tourism Subcommittee had shifted its engagement strategy (see separate update) and the Maintenance Subcommittee, represented by Darius Mark, said it has met several times and aims to present a formal proposal at the March meeting to meet an April delivery deadline. With no additional business the commission adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
