County Green Infrastructure Plan enters public comment; Catoctin Creek cluster nomination nears completion

Beau Lockard, Historic Preservation Planner with Frederick County Division of Planning and Permitting, updated the commission on two planning efforts.
Lockard said the countywide Green Infrastructure Plan is in a 60-day public review; written comments on the draft are due by Monday, Feb. 16, and a public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 18. He said staff will incorporate edits after the hearing and present the revised draft to the Frederick County Planning Commission for a recommendation to the County Council.
On the Catoctin Creek cluster nomination, Lockard said the general section and individual road descriptions are complete and staff is finalizing Section 2 of the nomination form, including subsections of the cluster description and a detailed safety analysis. He said the team is coordinating with GIS staff to prepare precise map attachments for the district's irregular boundaries and has compiled a visual archive of 340 photographs taken during a June site visit to document roads, transportation features and visible historic structures.
Lockard said work continues on formatting these visual assets and completing specialized sections to prepare the nomination for final submission; no formal recommendation or council action was reported during the Feb. 11 meeting.
