Active Aging Center reports December rise in Meals on Wheels; January events scheduled

The Commission on Aging reviewed the Senior Coordinator’s monthly reports and event calendar during its Jan. 5 meeting in Lisbon, noting service levels and upcoming programming at the Lisbon Active Aging Center.
Monthly service data presented to the commission show center visitors at 371 in December (down from 441 in October and 393 in November) and van rides of 48 in December. Meals on Wheels deliveries rose notably to 484 in December from 308 in October and 300 in November. Staff presented the December event record, which included an Annual Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 16 attended by 40 people, a Veterans’ Breakfast on Dec. 19, and volunteer-led activities such as a Cozy Makerspace and a paint class.
The commission also reviewed the January activity schedule: Cozy Makerspace (Jan. 7), The Gathering Table (Jan. 14), Veterans’ Breakfast (Jan. 16), a Paint Class with Pam (Jan. 16) and a Red Cross blood drive on Jan. 28 hosted with the Lisbon–Griswold Lions Club. Members encouraged promotion of these programs to support participation and volunteer engagement.
Members also reviewed multi-year fiscal-year tables showing visits, van rides and meal-program totals for years 2022–23 through 2024–25 to inform planning. Ara Wilnas reported that the Active Aging Center’s annual report has been submitted. The minutes note that contractor meetings to examine the HVAC system are planned, and that staff will follow up on facilities and outreach items at future meetings.
