Annandale review shows 15.3% special-education rate; staff expect increase

Lindsay said the district’s K–12 enrollment was 1,933, and that students served represent 15.3% of the population. She cautioned that the two counts measure different things: the unduplicated count includes resident students who may be open-enrolled elsewhere, while the served-in-district number reflects students receiving services from district staff.
On projected trends, Lindsay said initial evaluations this year are up and that the district expects the special-education population will likely increase next year. “Based on, the number of initial evaluations that we've been doing this year, I would say yes, likely,” she said.
