Board approves Golden Rule contract to install nine‑hole disc golf course

Parks staff told the Buckner Park Board that the municipality has already purchased the discs and baskets for a nine-hole course and sought authorization to hire a contractor to install the holes and complete grading and pads.
"We already have the equipment. Now, we just need someone to install it," the parks presenter said, describing installation tasks that include placing baskets, cementing them into pads, leveling and adding cement pads and finishing grading so the course is playable before summer events.
The board approved proceeding with Golden Rule, which could begin in about a week, and approved a not-to-exceed $2,900 additional expense for grading and associated work from the park down to the wastewater treatment plant. The parks portion of the work was presented at $4,800; board members moved, seconded and approved both expenditures by voice vote.
Staff said the course would be a nine-hole layout (mostly par three holes with a couple of par fours) and that a designer who regularly builds courses had mapped and played the layout to test playability. Parks staff said they would provide a final cost breakdown and timeline for completion.
