The DuBois City Council authorized staff to advertise bids for reconstruction of two bridges — one over Fourth Street and one over West Long Avenue — after staff described deficiencies identified in a 2023 inspection.
Staff said the city will seek funding from PennDOT and other sources; if those funds are not available, the project would draw on the city's liquid fuels monies. Staff estimated the repairs would cost between $200,000 and $250,000.
Council voted to advertise for bids and directed staff to pursue external funding while preparing bid documents. No contract awards were considered at the meeting; the advertisement will allow the city to solicit proposals.
