Commission approves routine reimbursements, legal requisition and supports industrial access road application

At its May 20 meeting, the Monongalia County Commission approved a set of routine financial and administrative items including grant reimbursements, a requisition to a law firm, a contribution to a household hazardous waste event, and a resolution supporting an industrial access road grant.
Approved items included reimbursement requests from community corrections ($18,892.76), Governor's Highway Safety Program Safe Communities ($623.30), impaired driving program ($4,494.21), the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative ($16,821.08) and VOCA victim services ($8,942.17). The Commission also approved requisition number 120 for $25,347.15 from the University Town Centre Excise Tax District administrative expense fund to Ballard Spahr for legal services.
Commissioners voted to adopt a resolution in support of an Industrial Access Road (IAR) grant application by the Monongalia County Development Authority on behalf of Outdoor Tranquility LLC, doing business as Mountain State Development Group, to build a state road into a 5‑acre commercial development near Cheat Lake. The Commission also approved a $5,000 contribution to the Morgantown Utility Board for its August 1 household hazardous waste event.
Ending: A request for a $16,218.95 disbursement from the County Fire Protection contingency fund was pulled from the agenda pending documentation that the Volunteer Fire Companies Association had voted to request the funds.
