Richland 2 will adopt MAP and shorter Progress Learning benchmarks for 2026–27

Senior chief for academics Miss Morrison presented results from the district’s final round of formative benchmarks and described planned changes to assessment tools for 2026–27.
Morrison said the district has observed a disconnect between some vendor-provided benchmark content and local pacing, and noted that MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) provides stronger growth measurement. She told trustees that the district will use MAP as the state-required formative assessment going forward and will roll out Progress Learning to allow schools to administer shorter, targeted benchmarks tailored to pacing guides and classroom needs. The change is intended to give teachers faster turnaround on instructional adjustments and better growth projections for targeted interventions.
Trustees asked about pilot results, principal training, alignment to state standards and rollout timing; administration said several schools had tried Progress Learning, principals were consulted, and a training/rollout plan will follow with leadership sessions scheduled for June.
