The Monongalia County Commission on May 20 approved a $90,000 infrastructure assistance request for the Mylan Park Foundation, to be paid from the Mon County Development Authority's coal bed methane fund.
County staff described the award as part of a collaborative capital stack that included federal and state dollars and local support. Commissioners and tourism leaders said the money will help build access roads and other infrastructure that make the park usable for RVs and larger visitor groups. "A branded KOA is a great offering and a super complement to what's going on at Mylan Park," a tourism official said, stressing improved guest access and experience.
Officials noted the coal bed methane fund balance will be roughly $180,000 after the disbursement and that only one similar grant would remain if the Commission approves future requests. The Commission approved the funding by voice vote.
