The Torrington Planning & Zoning Commission voted on May 20 to approve a set of modifications to a previously approved site plan for the gas station and convenience store at 341 Pinewoods Road. The applicant, Atlantis Management Group LLC (represented in materials by Danny Porco), proposed changes to lighting, signage, the drive‑through orientation and the locations of three 500‑gallon underground propane tanks and the dumpster.
City planner Jeremy Lifer’s staff memo recommended a five‑year extension of the original site plan approval (site plan 1376) through June 9, 2031 and listed conditions for the modification: revise the photometric plan to eliminate light trespass outside permitted entry/exit areas; obtain sign and building permits; submit a new soil and erosion control bond; maintain anti‑tracking measures during construction; and have the project engineer certify ADA parking and ramp compliance prior to final closeout.
Lifer and assistant planner Nate Nardy Cyrus noted that revised diesel canopy and marquee signage were adjusted to comply with regulations and received a positive staff recommendation. Building official Kevin Gillette reminded the applicant that all electrical and structural work requires permitting. The commission approved the site plan modification with the staff’s recommended conditions.
