Youth Action Committee reports robust tutoring, Dec. membership party and volunteer events

Denica Hua, a junior at Mountain House High School and acting representative of the Youth Action Committee, presented the group's monthly report to the council, summarizing activities aimed at student leadership and community service.
"I am Denica Hua, a junior at Mounts High School and I am reporting out as the acting representative of the youth action committee," she said, and described an ongoing tutoring program that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and draws roughly two students per tutor.
She said the committee has welcomed five new members since October and is planning the annual December membership party on Friday, Dec. 5 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., including member-made decorations and a card-donation activity. Hua also listed upcoming volunteer opportunities: Diwali support on Oct. 26 at Qua Elementary and a free community tech fair on Nov. 2 that will need 10'20'20to 20 high-school volunteers.
The council thanked Hua for the report; no formal action was required. The youth report was presented during the public meeting as an informational item and council members applauded the group's outreach and membership efforts.
The Youth Action Committee said it will circulate volunteer signups and additional details to the community soon.
