District rolls out K'3 DIBELS literacy screener, consolidates assessment data in Genesis and previews preK/k enrollment nights

Miss Wright, speaking for the curriculum committee, told the board winter i-Ready assessment results will be available in Genesis on Jan. 23 and that the district has introduced DIBELS as an early-literacy screener for K'3. "We're using DIBELS three times per year across the K through three classrooms," she said, adding the tool is intended to identify students who need early intervention.
District leader Colin Wright (speaking in his administrative role) described how the district will train K'3 teachers using focus grant funds and provide both central-office and building-based professional development in February to make DIBELS data actionable for instruction. "We will be training all K to 3 teachers on two occasions ... to talk about specific students and how we can address their reading needs," he said.
Miss Wright and other presenters also described a consolidation plan to house all student assessment and testing data in Genesis so parents can see NJSLA, PSAT, SAT, DIBELS and other results in a single platform. The board announced preK and kindergarten information nights on Jan. 28 (preK at 6 p.m., kindergarten at 7 p.m., held on Zoom and to be recorded for posting).
Other curriculum highlights included recognition of both high schools achieving AP Honor Roll status, continued piloting of K'5 math programs (Amplify, Desmos, i-Ready) and plans to expand CTE internships and a proposed trades fair to connect students to apprenticeships and vocational pathways.
