Onslow County Museum opens registration for summer art camp tied to America 250

Mary Downing, education coordinator at the Onslow County Museum, outlined the museum's annual summer art camp and related education outreach.
Downing said the museum has extensive school outreach, hosting more than 1,000 children per month during the school year, and that Heritage Day last month brought 435 fourth graders from Onslow County Schools.
The museum's summer art camp — themed for the America 250 celebration — will run for children ages 8 to 12 in two separate sessions: June 8–12 and June 22–26. Daily hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Camp activities will include colonial- and Revolutionary War–themed crafts and a field trip to Morris Creek National Battlefield; Downing said soldiers from Onslow County fought at that battlefield, tying the trip to local history.
Registration forms are available on the museum's social media pages, the museum website, or in person at the museum. The fee is $75 per child; the museum offers a $10 discount for additional siblings. Downing described the week as "a fun-filled week with lots of hands-on activities," and said campers receive a T-shirt and other materials as part of the program.
