A group of students representing the Livingston Youth Leaders addressed the council on June 23 to announce a free community health screening event scheduled for June 27 at the Livingston Senior Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The students said the event will offer mammogram screening (through a partnership with Let's Save Ma and the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program), blood tests, eye/vision screenings, and mental-wellness checks. The youth presenters encouraged pre-registration for mammograms and bloodwork by scanning QR codes on the event flyer; other services will accept walk-ins. The students listed partners including the Lions Club and noted an ophthalmologist, Dr. Nalashki Bagat, will give a short talk on eye health and diabetes.
Students identified themselves by name and role (co-presidents and officers of the group) and said proceeds from prior fundraisers support the organization's charitable work. Mayor Ed Minhart and council members thanked the students and encouraged residents to attend.
Organizers asked residents to bring friends and family and to use the QR code for advance registration for mammogram or bloodwork slots.
