Rome Commission approves evidence relocation contract, applies for ARC recreation grant and green-lights pump track

Appalachian Regional Commission grant request: Staff presented a concept to apply for ARC funds to install a canoe/kayak launch at the Archie connector bridge, upgrade sewer for city-owned campsites, add a restroom/bathhouse to serve the campground and trail, and install wayfinding signage. Staff estimated total project cost at $371,136 and said the grant is a 50/50 match with the option to count in-kind city labor toward the match. The commission voted to seek the grant funds by roll-call (all recorded "yes").
Ridge Ferry pump track approval: The commission also approved proceeding with a pump track project in Ridge Ferry Park, funded through SPLOST/special-purpose local option sales tax, after receiving a presentation and seeing a demonstration video in caucus. That motion likewise passed by roll-call with all voting in favor.
All three items passed with unanimous recorded yes votes; mover and seconder names were not recorded aloud in the transcript. City staff said they will proceed with contract execution, grant application and project implementation steps as appropriate.
