Police chief reports steady enforcement, highlights drug-related work and accreditation push

The Roosevelt Police Department presented its quarterly statistics for January through March and outlined priorities for investigation and accreditation.
The chief said the department handled 2,535 service calls during the period, issued 131 citations and created 359 cases. "We had 89 arrest cases for adults and 16 for juveniles," the chief said while noting that detectives remain busy and that some cases remain open for investigation.
The department reported 42 traffic accidents, 48 animal-service calls and a continued focus on drug-related offenses. The chief said detectives are being strengthened and that the department plans to add an investigator focused on drug cases in the next budget cycle.
The chief also described ongoing work toward accreditation with the Utah Chiefs Police Association and said that improving detective capacity and early evidence collection is a priority. Council members praised the visibility of patrols and noted the department's approach appears to be reducing certain categories of juvenile incidents.
