Family resource 'Frisk' coordinators report nearly $78,600 in donations, thousands of interventions in first year

Together the elementary and middle/high family resource centers recorded $37,656.19 and $40,930.39 in donations, respectively, for a combined total the presenters cited as $78,586.58; the presenters said that total includes in‑kind donations (clothing, nonperishable food, hygiene items), monetary donations, grants and volunteer hours.
The coordinators described programs including weekend backpack food, back‑to‑school events, holiday assistance (Thanksgiving and Christmas efforts), parent workshops ("Thrive on a Dime"), dental and vision screenings, and prom‑related mental health programming. They credited local partners — including the YMCA, school library, police departments and the health department — and received board praise for their community connections and early impact.
A board member called the donation total "a big figure and testament to the work" the coordinators are doing and thanked them for their efforts. The board accepted the report and had no formal action beyond thanks and recognition.
The coordinators said the program partners frequently provide in‑kind and immediate support (for example, emergency weekend assistance) that helps families when businesses or banks are closed on weekends.
