Middletown announces Feb. 2 kindergarten registration window and required documents

Middletown Township Public School District officials told families the kindergarten registration portal will open Monday, Feb. 2, and urged parents to prepare required documents ahead of time to avoid having to restart the online application.
"Registration will officially open on Monday, February 2nd," the district's registration supervisor, Dan Kutchner, said during the orientation. He added that "any registrations processed or added prior to Monday, February 2nd will be discarded and you'll have to begin the process over again." Parents should therefore wait to submit until the portal opens and have documents ready to upload.
Kutchner outlined the mandatory uploads that complete a registration: an original birth certificate, an immunization record, a physical exam (within the district's stated cutoff window for the upcoming school year), the growth-and-development form and a state-issued photo ID. Supplemental documents — such as custodial paperwork, Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 documentation, individual health-care plans, or English-language-learner paperwork — are optional but may be uploaded if applicable.
Families who already have a child in the district will use the Genesis parent portal; the district will send instructions after registration is processed for creating or accessing a Genesis account. Kutchner said Genesis houses attendance records, medical records, class schedules and bus assignments and is the central place parents will find report cards and conference scheduling.
The registrar also walked through proof-of-residency requirements: primary documents (an original deed or lease) and secondary items (utility bills, insurance documents or court papers) that clearly show name, address and date. Kutchner urged parents with atypical or complex living arrangements to contact the registrar's office for guidance.
The district said the orientation materials and a link to the registration portal will be posted on the district website. Parents with questions were directed to contact the registrar for assistance.
