Laguna Beach honors high school students for FLOW environmental projects

Fire Chief Nico King introduced the Laguna Beach High School FLOW program and recognized two freshman student groups for community-oriented environmental projects.
Chief King described the program as a cross‑curricular initiative connecting students with local partners including the Laguna Beach Fire Department and the Laguna Beach County Water District to complete hands‑on projects focused on fire, land, ocean and water. Sarah Benson, the students' program leader, called several students forward and described projects that include reusable tote bags printed with fire‑safety tips for distribution at the farmers market, posters and pledges against fireworks, murals and stickers for public outreach.
The council and staff thanked the students and posed for photos. The recognition was presented during the council's presentations portion of the meeting; no council action was required.
