Committee Member Herer says Chick-fil-A redevelopment back on schedule; retail openings and cannabis facilities noted

Committee Member Herer, liaison for finance and economic development, told the Cinnaminson Township Committee on July 15 that the Chick-fil-A redevelopment project is back on schedule after two private property owners resolved their differences and demolition and site work have restarted.
Herer said the township is encouraged the parties settled matters with only limited township involvement and that the work on the four homes along Route 130 has resumed. "The two private land owners have resolved their differences and their combined commitment and collaboration has allowed for the restart of the demolition," he said.
Herer also reported several local business updates: Bath & Body Works delayed its grand opening because some fire-safety measures were not completed in compliance with the Uniform Construction Code, with contractors working to correct deficiencies and an anticipated opening in the next couple of days. A Goodwill donation center has opened on Route 130 as a drop-off facility; the Zoning Board of Adjustment imposed operational restrictions to protect the corridor's character, Herer said. He added that Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers is nearing completion at the former drugstore location, and a local engineering firm has merged with a national partner and will relocate its office.
On economic development, Herer said two fully permitted cannabis manufacturing and warehousing facilities are scheduled to open soon. He noted the township adopted ordinances that limit such businesses to the industrial zone and restrict retail to operations that form part of a manufacturing or warehousing structure. "While we recognize that this type of business has been somewhat controversial, I applaud the deputy mayor and her subcommittee in striking the proper balance," he said.
The updates were delivered as part of the committee liaison reports; no formal action on these items was taken at the July 15 meeting.
