373 Summer St. owners seek minor addition; commission schedules site visit

Engineer Tyler Jud described a small addition to a rear cottage at 373 Summer Street that requires new foundations for two existing cottage sections. The project will create roughly a 134 sq ft net increase and proposes mitigation planting along a fence at a 2:1 ratio (270 linear feet of native shrubs and grasses).
Owner Kathleen Johnson explained the existing elements are not on foundations and must be rebuilt; the changes are primarily to create stable foundations rather than enlarge the cottage materially. Commissioners asked to see wetland boundaries and septic/sewer arrangements. The team said the property is on septic and affirmed the cottage work sits well outside the nearby riverfront.
The commission agreed to include 373 Summer Street in the December 6 site visits and continued the matter to the next meeting to allow commissioners to inspect the site in person.
